Focus on BMS World Mission

(Based on the BMS Prayer Guide prayer points for the first few weeks of September 2021)

  • Bangladesh: In 2020, Bangladesh was hit by Cyclone Amphan. This 'one-in-20-year' flood was the fifth time in two decades the country had been hit.
    1. Every year many people across Bangladesh suffer from dengue fever and other mosquito-borne diseases. Please pray that the mosquitoes can be kept under control and that medical care is available to those needing it.
    2. As monsoon season comes to an end, pray that the communities devastated by flooding will have the support and resources needed to rebuild lives.
    3. Please pray that God will call and inspire young people to become Christian leaders and mission workers. Pray that BMS workers Louise and Peter Lynch will be kept safe as they travel to train these young people.
    4. Praise God that new communities are responding to the gospel and pray for the new pastors as they begin work to support these new believers.
  • People on the move: Among some of the world's most vulnerable people are those who have been forced to leave their homes because of war, environmental devastation and persecution.
    1. BMS participates in different networks that support refugee and migrant communities moving across Europe, through discipleship, community cohesion, education, livelihoods training or women's health projects. Thank God for this work.
    2. Pray for members of the refugee community who have found life-giving hope in Christ as they have been loved and cared for on their difficult journeys.
    3. Many people arriving in Europe in search of a better life come from countries where BMS works, including Afghanistan, Lebanon and Chad. Pray that through our partners we can build a better life in those places.
  • BMS Community: Caring Christians who enable mission through prayer, giving, volunteering and advocacy.
    1. Please pray for wisdom for the BMS candidate board: volunteers who collectively help to discern and test the call of those applying to serve overseas with BMS.
    2. Pray for volunteers who participate in different challenges and events to raise money for BMS. Pray for creativity, energy and success for those taking part!
    3. Pray for ministers and church leaders in the UK. Pray that they would be equipped and inspired to encourage those they lead to follow the Great Commission.
